Electronic Pharmacy Nominations
As a Practice we have been experiencing increasing problems regarding Pharmacy Nominations for electronic prescriptions. As a result of this we have taken the decision to remove ourselves from the decision making process. We will no longer be accepting requests to add or remove pharmacy nominations for patient and this should be discussed with your chosen Pharmacy.
The process of EPS nominations is not an auditable procedure by Practices or Pharmacies. This is monitored by NHS England and NHS Digital to comply with strict Information Governance Policies. The inability to audit this process is very frustrating for Practices, Pharmacies and Patients, however this is not something we can control.
Due to the fact that the Practice issues the prescription, it is not unusual for patients to assume that the Practice has initiated any changes. We process many EPS prescriptions each day and we DO NOT monitor the Pharmacy that the patient has chosen. This is entirely patient choice and their own convenience.
If you order your prescription using any of the online services then you should continue to do so in the normal way as this will not change. The two processes are not linked to each other, they just run side by side.
If you wish to change / amend / check any of your EPS details please speak to your chosen Pharmacy to which you have consented to use their service. You should have provided written or verbal consent to your chosen Pharmacy.
